I have just finished class and have time to kill as I wait for Andrew to talk to Elle. It’s been another productive day here at school. We’ve been here for about 8 hours, since 10:30, studying and going to class. I feel kinda bad about an instance that happened today. Andrew and I were sitting in the garden, studying, when a couple other students, a married couple in their late 50’s came and sat next to us. They began to spout off in English, asking us lots of questions. It’s not that we didn’t want to talk to them or that we wanted to be rude but we couldn’t bring ourselves to talk in English, in length. Our answers were very short and we didn’t ask many questions in return. We want to save our hallowed English speaking for our loved ones at home and only them. Unfortunately, this couple doesn’t like to speak Spanish unless they have to. So needless to say, we might not have come across as “charming” as we really are. In other news, I began learning pronouns again today. I have always had a hard time with these and today is no exception. I don’t get it. It’s so darn confusing to shorten a sentence. Por ejemplo (for example): El quiere regalarte las computadoras. “He wants to give you the computers”. With pronouns, this now turns into: El te las quiere regular or El quiere regalartelas. “He wants to give them to you. K, who wouldn’t be confused, Right? Anyways, to say the least, it was muy frustrado hoy. (frustrating today) I hope the future brings more understanding. It’s actually a little chilly right now, probably 60 degrees with a 7 mph wind. Andrew requested something deep fried for dinner tonight and I shamefully admit that trans fat, deep fried chicken and fries hit the spot like nothing else could.
